We’re pleased to share that Annette Karstensen and Paul Bosauder from SEQUENCE Computational Engineering will be presenting at the Pressure Equipment Workshop 2026, sharing practical insights into two important pressure equipment integrity challenges.
In “Assessing Brittle Fracture Risk in an Ageing Pressure Vessel,” Annette will examine the integrity of a 1960s pressure vessel constructed from vintage carbon steel with relatively low fracture toughness. The presentation will explore how finite element analysis (FEA) and fracture mechanics-based assessment can be used to evaluate brittle fracture risk, establish minimum pressurisation temperatures, and support informed decisions around the continued safe operation of ageing equipment.
Paul will present “Flow-Induced Vibration in Pressure Equipment: Reducing Fatigue Risk through Design-by-Analysis and Fitness-for-Service.” His presentation will explore how integrated CFD–FEA analysis can be used to assess flow-induced vibration and fatigue risk in steam plant and process pressure equipment. Drawing on practical examples including re-boiler columns, thermowells, and geothermal pipelines, Paul will demonstrate how this approach can help identify fatigue-sensitive areas, evaluate complex operating conditions, and support safer, more reliable equipment design and operation.
The Pressure Equipment Workshop brings together engineers, asset owners, regulators, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge, discuss emerging challenges, and advance best practice across the design, operation, inspection, and ongoing management of pressure equipment.
It’s a valuable opportunity to connect with industry peers, hear practical insights from real-world engineering assessments, and stay informed about developments shaping pressure equipment integrity and asset management.
